One of our Rosh
Hashanah resolutions is
to frequent more of the wonderful heritage sites
and historic museums we have here in Israel. This past Saturday we paid
a visit
to the Homa
U’Migdal Museum in Kibbutz Hanita.
Hanita is an
example of keeping your
eye on the goal, love of our homeland, and the life of the Jewish
settlement
during the crucial period from 1936 to the War of Independence. The
museum is
packed with artifacts and photos, and also a fascinating and touching
20-minute
movie about the Aliyah to Hanita. We were guided around the museum by
one of
the original members of Kibbutz Hanita, who used to be taught Tanach in
his
tent by none other than Hannah Szenes herself! It was a lovely and
highly
recommended outing.
